Join the Fashion Design and Retailing Department for an immersive 10 day excursion to the international fashion centers of Tokyo, Japan, and Hoi An, and Hoi Chi Mihn cities in Vietnam!

May 25, 2026-June 4, 2026

The Fashion Design and Retailing Department in collaboration with Eden Travel International will guide students through 10 days of apparel manufacturing and fashion retail sites. Students will receive guided tours through several apparel manufacturing factories in Vietnam explore the fashion districts of Harajuku, Omotesando, and Aoyama, walk the world renown fabric markets of Soai Kinh Lam and Dai Minh, and experience hands-on workshops on indigo dyeing and textile surface embellishment

Attendees will tour state of the art apparel manufacturing facilities, workrooms, and warehouses, visit flagship retail stores, explore the influential fashion districts in Tokyo, and meet with designers and business professionals in the industry. Factory tours will include a visit to  Cortex Textiles, a factory built with sustainable and renewable energy, ethical consumption practices, and human-centered labor initiatives. Students will also have free time to explore the cities on their own.

The trip is open to current and alumni Framingham State University Students, Faculty, Staff, and members of the FSU Board of Directors. 

Students may also choose to enroll in the FSHD 290 Study Tour course offered in Spring 2026 to earn college credit for the trip. Cost of enrolling in FSHD 290 is in addition to the cost of the trip. Students may enroll in this course as an Open Elective. Students in the Fashion Merchandising or Fashion Design major may take the course as a restricted elective. You do not need to enroll in the course in order to join the trip!

Included in the price of the trip is:

  • Flights from Boston to Toyko, Japan, and Danang to Boston.
  • 10 nights accomodations in 3 star hotels and one night on high speed sleeper train. All accomodations will be private and single sex. You will only share rooms will classmates.
  • Daily breakfasts
  • Economy one way flight between Tokyo and Ho Chi Minh
  • All transfers and transport
  • All workshops and professional visits
  • Several meals during workshop days or as included in Eden itinerary.

Students are responsible for:

  • Travel visas
  • Travel insurance
  • Gratuities, baggage fees, and meals not included in Eden itinerary. 

Cost of the trip is approximately $4,100. Final costs will be determined in November when flights are booked. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due November 2nd, 2025 to secure a spot on the trip. The tour is limited to 20 students so sign up fast to secure your spot! Partia remaining payments will be due in February 2026 and March 2026. 

Fundraising will be taking place in the Fall 2025 semester to help offset the overall cost of the trip for all registered students. Funding is not guarenteed.

Participants must sign up by November 2nd, 2025.
